Alright so I just finished putting everything together, but I'm done! So here's the finishing proses, I took my chosen box (an owl box from Dollarama/ the dollar store that I painted myself *isn't it pretty*) and put holes in it that match the control panel on the board as well as a hole for the audio cord. I then took the fabric I used (I couldn't get tights so I used some fabric, any fabric will work as long as its thin) and a hot glue gun to attach it to the eye area. After I attached the board, then the speakers, and finally the battery. (I'd like to say now that a LOT of the wires kept falling off, I'd like to say don't worry just strip and solder them back on. I'd also like to say that because I used two different speakers, the sound isn't the same for both so it causes the battery to glitch out.)
Ok so I finally got started, after taking apart the individual cases, I then unsoldered the speakers from their individual boards, after that I striped/burned ( I used a lighter ) and combined both of their red and black wires. Then after that I re-soldered the wires to my chosen board. Don't get discouraged if the wires won't come off or go back on, I had trouble with it at first too.
I couldn't get the supplies for the original one, so I've taken two old speakers and I'm gonna combine them. I also plan on taking a wooden box and black silk tights, for the case and to muffle the speakers to prevent any unnecessary noise.
( I had to rewrite this post and one other, cause I'm using my phone to update my blog and I guess the app has some kinks to it. ) I'm starting to notice I apologize a lot, but as for the speaker I still don't have the parts. Again I'm hoping to get them soon, but for now I can't do anything... sorry...
Ok so I'm no longer able to make a powered skateboard... sorry for the confusion, but if your still looking to make one then I suggest the website www.instructables.com , its a great place to find information, parts, and instructions!( Yay!) Ok so don't worry I'm still making something just not that. Ok so now I'm making a mini phone speaker. I'll get a pic of the end product and the parts and post it down below. Again sorry for any confusion.
Sorry its been 2 weeks since the last update, I didn't get the skateboard at Walmart, they didn't have any, but I did get one at a garage sale. So there's that and I might of found a place to get the motor, but I still need to do more research on it. So there you have it, I'll put a pic of the skateboard and the motor down below.
Ok so, I might have found a skateboard and I'm seeing about getting it tomorrow... that's all... sorry I said it was small... oh and I'm getting it at Walmart... but if you want you could always get a different one, its just the only place I can find with a good price. I'll post a pic and price when I get it. So that's all for now.
Ok so I found some of the things, I've found a servo and a brushless motor, I already have a wii nunchuck... somewhere... I'll find it... soon... I still can't find a skateboard, but I hope to find one soon. Alright now for places and prices, I found the servo on littlebits.cc/ for $25.95, but that's without shipping and taxes (though I will have those for both soon). And I found the brushless motor on www.hobbyking.com (if the link doesn't woke just use google) for $15.86. Its from the east coast of the US so I still don't know tax or shipping. At the moment there are still a lot of unknowns, but as I get closer to the end game those unknowns will get smaller. I'm still thinking about brakes and I'm coming up with ideas I just need to figure out how to apply them to the skateboard, but don't worry I'm getting closer to it. So there's your update.
Ok so, from what I've looked into and ideas I have, this is a list of items I'll be using (unless I run into complications) to make my skateboard: the skateboard of corse, wires, a Wii nummchuck, one or two servos, a brushless motor (preferably small), and if I can a brake system, at this time I don't know if I can make the brakes seeing as they'll be on a skateboard wheel and those thing are tiny so it'll be hard, but I still want to try. Ok so those are the things I hope to use, when I figure out the brakes I'll include what I used, but if I'm not able I'll just remove it from the plan.
This is my blog for my computer engineering class. This blog will be about my progress with my computer engineering culminating, for those not from my school I'm still in high school. This will be 30% of my final mark, I will be making a powered skateboard and record my progress on here, its still in the planning stage, but I hope to start soon. Let me say now that this blog won't be perfect, because no one is. But I will do my best, so please enjoy and don't hate.
